The Latino Mentorship Program (LMP) is an initiative sponsored by the Latin American Recruitment and Educational Services
(LARES) program and the Latino Committee on University Affairs (LCUA). One of the great advantages this program offers is
a network of support from mentors and other protégés. Having these connections with other Latino students develops a students
academic and leadership skills.
LMP builds "communidad" by sharing knowledge and experiences among Latino students at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The mentors provide a vision and a bridge into our futures. Developing connections with Latino alumni is key to developing
yourself as a student and as a leader. Whether you want a mentor to help you find a job, internship, the right professor
for a class, or whether you just want someone to talk to who knows about being Latino at UIC, a mentor is your link to the
real world that awaits us.
